Alexander
Ovechkin is amazingly mature for his age. Standing at 6’2 and
200 pounds, he looks at home at Russia’s highest level of hockey.
He is an excellent skater, and is extremely maneuverable. Alexander
possessed excellent hockey sense. He sees the ice well and makes
amazing passes. According to an observer, Russian sports writer
Alexei Belov, sometimes Alexander’s line mates do not have enough
hockey sense to understand what he has already seen and is acting
on. He has a solid wrist and slap shot. Beyond his offensive talents,
Alexander is a fighter. He does not stand down from anyone at
the boards and uses his size and speed well. Defensively, Alexander
plays a solid positional game when he is in his own end of the
ice. He is not greedy with the puck and uses his teammates well.
